What’s Your Father’s Day Tradition?
Every family has a set of traditions or specific way of doing things. Sometimes they are very small, but they are the nuances which make that particular family unique. One of the big ones, however, is how Dad is celebrated on Father’s Day.
Often, traditions aren’t intentional but evolve over the years. My tradition with my Dad developed when I was an adult and just became “our thing.” I would go to his house early Father’s Day morning, and we would start the day eating breakfast together – just him and me. At the time, I thought that I was making his day when I shared those Father’s Days with him. But, now, as I think about it, he was actually making mine.
Many men in our lives are father figures, including uncles, brothers, and mentors, to name a few. They do so much for us every day and deserve to be celebrated throughout the year. This year, I think the perfect gift would be to celebrate our Dads throughout the year, not just the third Sunday in June.
To all of our Dads, “Happy Father’s Day (All Year)!”
