Cookies, please!

December 4 is National Cookie Day.

This got me thinking about what perfect comfort food cookies are. While they are perfect for kids, it’s a dessert that you never outgrow. It can be the ideal ending to most meals and works wonderfully as a midnight snack.

For me, freshly baked warm chocolate chip cookies accompanied by a cold glass of milk is gastronomical heaven. When I think about it, I can almost taste and smell it. Whenever I go to San Francisco, I try my best to visit Ghirardelli Square to get a rich, thick, gooey, warm chocolate chip cookie. It just makes my trip complete.

What is your favorite cookie? Is it oatmeal raisin or peanut butter or something else? Huffington Post states that you can learn a lot about a person by knowing their favorite cookie. Are you the sassy ginger snap or the sophisticated macaron?

No matter what your favorite is, it makes the perfect gift during the holiday season. Who doesn’t enjoy receiving a tin of homemade, or even store-bought, cookies with the recipe included? It’s personal and thoughtful without breaking the bank. Plus, the recipient is always made to feel extra special.

Come to think of it, the cookie is the perfect food at any time of year. One terrific thing to look forward to after getting through the holidays is the Girl Scout cookies. Once that indulgence is passed, then there are the Easter cookies. After that, summer is approaching, and an ice cream sandwich made with cookies is the ideal dessert. Following that, there are the Halloween cookies, and, before you know it, it is the holiday season again.

So, here, here to National Cookie Day and celebrating this eternal delicacy.
