Client Spotlight: Meet Naima

In 2022 I had the pleasure of planning Naima and Quentin’s wedding. It was truly an unforgettable experience in every positive way. When Naima and I first spoke during the preceding December, Naima described her vision of an intimate wedding in her townhouse that sounded like an immensely enjoyable project to me. 

As the months progressed and we worked through the plans, I knew that the day was going to be something that I had not seen before, but had no idea how special it would be. 

On August 7, the wedding day, Naima’s amazingly gifted BFF and makeup artist, Maria Bryant, had transformed her home into a romantic, cozy space to hold a uniquely celebratory ceremony and reception.  I left her home that evening in awe of all that I had seen and experienced.

Yet, somehow, I still didn’t have a full appreciation of Naima’s visionary talents until just last month. 

Naima Yetunde Hammonds is an immensely talented author, speaker, spoken word artist, blogger and editor who uses her talents to educate, illuminate, entertain and uplift her community. In addition, as a ONEHOPE wine distributor, she contributes 10% of all of her sales to Her Justice, Inc.

During Women’s History Month, I was honored to be one of the ladies featured ln Naima’s blog. But, even more exciting (and immensely humbling) is the gift of written word that Naima so generously gave me. She wrote a poem about Debra’s Details & Designs that I believe embodies the essence of DDD. Below is her poem.

Life is by design 

Is curated by the most high

Our gifts are offerings for others 

Memories are imprints on the minds of many 

They stay with us and 

Carry us through a lifetime

By design I’m doing my best 

Formatted in the fabric of my being 

I am everything pure 

I am unique by design 

I am tailored made 

Thank God for my ancestors 

who made a way 

for me to stand in 

Purpose today
